Status Quo's castle concert close to selling out

A sell out crowd is expected to greet Status Quo when the veteran rockers roll into Rochester this summer.

Medway council says tickets for the Castle Concert on Wednesday, July 15, have nearly sold out, with fans snapping up tickets from far and wide.

The band performed at the BBC VE Day concert on Saturday night as part of a star studded line up, alongside two other Castle Concert 2015 acts - Blue and Laura Wright. And in just nine weeks they'll be wowing the crowds in Rochester.

The Quo's previous shows at the castle have all sold out, with band's famously loyal fan-base travelling from around the world - including Peter Smith and his wife Jenny, who will fly from their home in Melbourne, Australia to see their idols at Rochester.

Other acts are not far behind, with tickets selling fast for the rest of the Castle Concerts week.

Peter Andre and Blue will take to the stage on Thursday, July 16, and will be supported by BBC The Voice winner Jermain Jackman.

Friday, July 17 is 80 party night, with Billy Ocean, Sara Cox and Cheryl, Mike and Jay Formerly of Bucks Fizz all performing, while Tenor Jonathan Antoine, made famous by Britain’s Got Talent, will perform at the Castle Proms on Saturday, July 18.

Robin Cooper, Medway Council’s Director for Regeneration, Community and Culture, is not on the bill, but was pleased to see tickets selling well.

He said: "Every year we are really pleased to see so many local residents enjoying the concerts, and it seems this year people are travelling to Medway from all over the world to see their favourite acts perform live in the intimate open-air venue that is Rochester Castle gardens.

“Tickets for all four nights are selling well, especially the Quo concert which will expect will be sold out very soon. I’d urge anyone wanting to come along to the shows to buy tickets soon to avoid disappointment.”
