A blaze broke out on a railway bridge in Strood in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters had to wait for a Network Rail officer to arrive to turn off the electricity supply at about 1am.

Kent Police closed Station Road while the crew used a ladder to reach the tracks and put out the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
