Art student's plea after folder taken from Chatham Odeon

An A-level art student had her sketch book taken, which could mean she fails her course if it is not found.

Yiota Deamer, from Rochester, said her daughter has been left devastated after her artwork was taken from Chatham Odeon on Friday, April 20.

Grace, 17, was watching a 5pm showing of Love Simon when she accidentally left the book behind to go to the toilet. On returning only a few minutes later, she found it had gone.

A reward is being offered in the hope the book will be returned.

Staff at the cinema have looked at CCTV and it has shown a couple with the folder in the foyer taking photos of Grace’s artwork.

Ms Deamer said her daughter, a Fort Pitt student, is a talented artist and won the school prize for art as well as being given a place at Cambridge University summer school this year.

She said: “The art in the folder is irreplaceable and the product of weeks of work.

“She won’t be able to reproduce this work in the time given, which could affect her grade.”

The folder is burgundy and A3 in size. A reward will be given by the family for its safe return.
