Fire crews had to wait for the power to be isolated before extinguishing the blaze, and UK Power engineers are now working on the site.

A spokesman said 34 customers lost power initially and that 25 remain without power while repair work continues.

They added: "We understand how difficult it is to be without power and we would like to reassure our customers that we are working hard to get their electricity back on as soon as we can.

"We apologise for any inconvenience."

The fire was extinguished by 3.15pm.
