People living in Cliffe were witnesses to what they nicknamed "the apocalypse" as hail and rain took over the village amid extreme hot and dry weather.
Videos and pictures showed very strong winds and hail at around 3.30pm today.
Lauren Gould captured the moment the storm hit and water poured down Pond Hill, where she lives.
Footage shows water rapidly flowing down the street and hail hitting against the window.
She said: "It was a total surprise and the marble-sized hail stones concerned me.
"I thought our car windscreens were going to crack.
"Luckily, the hail didn’t last long but as you can see, we had enough rain fall to create a small river."
Teri Ella Graham filmed the aftermath outside her home, and said: "Well that was one hell of a storm. I now have a river outside my house."
She also captured the moment she found an enormous hail stone.
The weird weather was the main discussion on the village's Facebook group.
One resident said: "Something in the middle of 40-degree heat and the apocalypse would be appreciated. And 10 minutes later back to a sunny day?"
Another commented: "Amazing wasn't it? I stood outside when it started for about 30 seconds, then it went full-on Apocalypse and I had to run around the house closing all the windows. Can't believe it was so localised that it missed Cliffe Woods."
