Police descended on a hospital after a suspect package was discovered in the toilets.
Officers were called to Medway Maritime Hospital in Windmill Road, Gillingham, at 11.30pm last night.
They had been told a suspect package had been found in the toilets.
Yet after inspecting the package, it was found to contain suspected illegal drugs.
Officers are investigating where it came from.
James Devine, chief executive of Medway NHS Foundation Trust said:“On Monday evening an unattended package was discovered in a toilet by a member of staff. We instigated our on-site protocols for dealing with suspicious packages and the police were called to the hospital. The package was inspected by police and was found not to pose any threat to the public.
“We would like to reassure our patients, visitors and staff that everything was done to ensure the safety of people on site and all of the relevant emergency services were called and in attendance.”
