Suspected drug dealer found with thousands of pounds of cash in Rock Avenue, Gillingham, ‘assaulted’ officers at police station

A suspected county line dealer has been accused of assaulting two officers after he was arrested carrying thousands of pounds in cash.

On Tuesday, police were patrolling Gillingham town centre when they spotted a man they thought was involved in the supply of controlled drugs.

He was stopped inside a shop in Rock Avenue and searched by officers.

A mobile phone, plus £3,924 in cash was seized and the suspect was arrested.

It is alleged the 21-year-old then assaulted two officers while at the police station and caused damage to property in the custody area.

Kavell Gottshalk, of no fixed address, was later charged by investigators from the force’s county lines and gangs team with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possessing criminal property, namely the seizes cash, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, acting in a violent manner at a police station and criminal damage.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
