Attempted robbery of teen in Wood Street, Gillingham

A teenage boy was told to hand over his phone, bag and shoes during an attempted robbery by five men.

Investigators are appealing for information regarding the incident which happened in Wood Street, Gillingham, at around 5.25pm on Friday, August 2.

The teenage victim was with a group of friends when the five suspects approached and demanded his possessions while preventing him from running away.

It is reported the suspects stole a phone from one of the victim’s friends before leaving the scene.

One of the men is described as being black, aged 19 to 20, and around 6ft with short black hair.

He was wearing a grey top and dark grey shorts. A second man was described as white with long black hair and wearing a light grey, zipped top.

Investigating officer, PC Andrew Kendall-Weaver, said: ”We have been investigating this incident including the review of local CCTV.

“It is understood there were members of the public in the area at the time who may have seen what happened. I would urge them to contact our appeal line.

“Residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam are also asked to check for relevant footage.”
