A teenager has been arrested following a spate of motorbike thefts.

Police were called to Balmoral Gardens, Gillingham in pursuit of a bike believed to be stolen.

The incident happened at around 1am this morning and officers detained a 17-year-old male who is reported to have failed to stop when requested.

Officers detained the individual who was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.

He remains in custody at this time pending further inquiries.

It comes after police reported there had been a spate of motorbike thefts in Medway this weekend.
