Teenager charged with four offences after newsagent robbery in Darnley Road, Strood

A 16-year-old has been charged with four offences after allegedly threatening staff in a newsagents with a knife.

The teen is accused of targetting the store in Darnley Road, Strood, at around 5.45am on Wednesday.

Cash was reported stolen during the incident and a shop worker was threatened with a blade.

Luckily no one was injured during the robbery.

Police arrested the teen, who is from Rochester, on Thursday afternoon.

He has since been charged with robbery, acquiring criminal property, possessing a bladed article and possessing cannabis.

The boy was remanded in custody and appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on today.

At this hearing he was further remanded in custody and will next appear at Medway Youth Court on Tuesday, April 2.
