A teenage girl was sexually assaulted as she walked across a field in Gillingham.

The attack, which has only just been released by police, happened on Wednesday, April 8, on a playing field in Beechings Way.

The girl, who has not been named, was grabbed by a youngish man in a black hoodie-type tracksuit.

She had been walking near the skate park when the man approached her between 10.45am and 11.35am.

The girl only reported the assault to police on to them on Thursday, April 23 and investigating officers have only just release details.

PC Phoebe Hensman from Medway Police, said: "The offender is alleged to have grabbed the teenager, put his arms around her.

"The man is between 16-25 and was wearing a black jumper with a hood up, black jogging trousers and white trainers.

"He then let go of the girl and walked off towards the corner of the field.

"There have not been any further offences reported in the area. However, if anyone was in the park on this day and saw anything suspicious they should contact us."
