A teenager suffered a facial injury when a stranger threw liquid in her face in a suspected acid attack as she walked along a street in Gillingham.
Mia Taylor, 19, was approached by a stranger in Mill Road at 5.30pm on Thursday before the unknown substance was thrown at her.
Her sister Kiera-Leigh said Mia spent several hours in accident and emergency at Medway Maritime Hospital before she was transferred to the burns unit at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead.
Reporting the incident on Facebook, she described her sister as shocked and upset after having the “acid liquid” chucked at her face.
On Friday, she posted an update to say Mia will not suffer any scarring to her cheek despite it being red and sore, adding she is expected to make a full recovery.
A police spokesman confirmed they were investigating the attack but could not disclose what substance was used.
He said: "It was reported a 19-year-old woman was walking along Mill Road from the direction of Brompton Road when it’s believed a man approached her and threw a liquid substance.
"The woman went to a local hospital where she was treated with a minor facial injury and has since returned home.
"Officers are carrying out a number of inquiries to locate the offender."
