Teen allegedly robbed of mobile phone in Jenkins Dale in Chatham and a 16-year-old has been arrested.

Two men allegedly robbed a teenager of his mobile phone after threatening him with a knife in Chatham.

Officers said four teenagers were walking along Claremont Way near the junction with Jenkins Dale at about 8pm Monday when the incident happened.

The four were approached by two young men and one of them allegdly threatened the boys and showed a knife under his clothing.

One of the teenagers, thought to be just 14, then handed over his mobile phone, a Galaxy S5, and the two men walked away in the direction of Chalk Pit Hill.

The suspects were described as two black men, aged between 17 and 19 and both around 5ft 10in.

One of the men was wearing dark blue or black jeans over grey jogging bottoms, and is reported to have had a knife tucked into the front of his trousers.

He was also wearing a padded grey or black jacket.

Officers said this morning that a 16-year-old boy from Chatham had been arrested in connection with the incident and that he had been bailed until January 2 pending further inquiries.
