A young father who died in a horror crash on the M2 has been named, as the 22-year-old accused of killing him appeared in court.
Connor Money appeared in Medway Magistrates' Court this afternoon following the collision on Tuesday.
He's accused of causing the death of friend and dad-of-two Jordan Amos by dangerous driving and allegedly damaging a toilet by filling it with toilet paper while in a police cell.
The Essex Road, Dartford, resident denied both charges.
It's alleged Money was behind the wheel of a BMW 5 series estate which collided with a stationary lorry. Mr Amos was also in the vehicle.
The court heard police tried to pull the vehicle over in the moments before the collision but the driver sped off past the Rochester, Blue Bell Hill and Hempstead Valley turn offs.
Kent Police has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to their involvement with the vehicle.
Defending Sarah O'Leary said Money, who has ADHD and Asperger's, says he was not in the drivers seat and was sitting in the back of the vehicle.
She also added there was already damage to the toilet in the cell.
Magistrates remanded him in custody and he will appear at Woolwich Crown Court on November 8.
Money spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
His family sat in the public gallery, including his girlfriend who is 12 weeks pregnant with their child.
A fundraising page has been set up to help Mr Amos' family following his death.
On it a tribute written by friend Chloe James reads: "Jordan Amos was loved by so many and is going to be truly missed by his mum, dad, brothers, girlfriend, two beautiful children, cousins and many more.
"I want to raise as much money as we can and any money that's raised will be going to help with funeral costs to give our boy the send off he deserves.
"Any money that is left over will go to his children and his girlfriend to help them through the loss of a partner and the best daddy there was.
"We all wish that this was something they would never have to do but this family deserves the help at this awful sad time.
"Rest in perfect peace our daddy, son, brother, uncle and cousin. We all love you. There's only one Jordan Amos. Keep that engine revving up there."
People who witnessed the collision are asked to call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting RY/FM/108/19.
