Thanks to Terry Whitby for these pictures of the giant E which puzzled and infuriated in equal measure the good people of Borstal last month. The magazine art director had a good view - it was erected, without warning, yards away from his home.
You may have dared to read about it elsewhere but it was the Medway Messenger's Monday print edition which exclusively brought to global attention our council's vision of a Hollywood sign plan; spreading the oft forgotten name of the unitary authority of the five towns collectively known as Medway.
Terry says: "I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I saw this sign go up. "We don't really want to wake up in the morning looking at this as it's much bigger when you're living right by the field."
He's not alone. You have been more than happy to share your verdict. And so far you haven't been all that supportive. Rosemary Clemence from Medway was not alone in thinking the promotional plan - the E cost about £2,000 to put up - a "ridiculous waste of money."
Jack from Borstal agreed, saying: "Surely this is not the time to be spending on pointless follies." Yvette meanwhile congratulated Medway Council on an excellent, if belated, April Fool.
