An engineer, a teacher and a drop-in session organiser are among the finalists in tomorrow’s (Saturday) Pride in Medway awards ceremony.
Andrew Dormer, an engineer at Grain Power Station has been nominated in the good carer category by fellow worker, Jack Chambers.
Mr Chambers said: “Andrew is a key part of our team at Grain.
“He has gone above and beyond the call of duty and has donated his time to make sure all apprentices settle in to their surrounding, including taking them out to socialise outside of working hours.”
Laura Budd is a teacher at Delce Academy in Rochester and has been nominated in the community service section for being an excellent role model.
She is said to be key in the development of the Academy and has had a big impact on her community despite only living and working in the Towns for a short time.
Faye Lamb started drop-in craft sessions in Medway for people with learning disabilities, enabling them to learn new skills.
Also nominated for an award this year who didn’t get through to the finals were bus driver Kayleigh Lewis, nominated for her elite standard of customer service and the St John Ambulance volunteers who work in the Towns providing medical care for people at events.
The Pride in Medway Awards are sponsored by Medway Council, mhs homes, the University of Kent, Southern Water, the Medway Messenger, E.ON and Southeastern.
Last year’s winners were Roger and Janet Maddams, from Wigmore, who have campaigned tirelessly to raise money for and awareness of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (Cry), after their son, Jack, died suddenly of an undetected heart defect.
