Three people have been arrested after what witnesses described as an attack by "men with their hoods up" late in the night.
Officers were called to Britton Street, Gillingham, at 11.20pm last night after reports of a disturbance.
A large cordon remains in place around Lock Street and neighbouring Britton Street this afternoon, while forensic investigators comb the residential area.

A 20-year-old resident of nearby Saxton Street witnessed the incident.
She said: "At around 9.30pm/10pm I saw about three or four white men with their hoods up.
"They were arguing with a woman. She was in her early 20s.
"It started off as a laugh. She thought they were messing around, they started arguing and then she just started screaming and screaming and then it went silent.
"We didn't hear any ambulances just saw police and forensics."
Another person in the street, who did not want to be named, said they had heard there had been some sort of altercation involving multiple people, while screams had also been heard.
However, police spokesman Andy Saunders said: "There are no reported injuries.
"Three people have subsequently been arrested and remain in custody."
Police declined to say what they had been arrested for.
Another resident, who lives in Britton Street and did not want to be named, said: "I haven't been told anything and nor have any neighbours.
"I went to the gym this morning and saw the cordon but it's been extended since then.
"It's covering a massive area at the junction of Lock Street and Britton Street and the corner shop and chippy on Lock Street can't open.
"I'm just worried I won't be able to get to work tomorrow as currently no one can bring cars in or out."
Police officers are interviewing residents currently and the force has been approached for more information.
