Journalists will be downing black coffee by the gallon tonight (Thursday) as they stay up until the small hours to bring the latest from election counts across the country.
And after the last results are called, logged and put up on websites, most will head home to their beds to catch some well-earned sleep.
But for three reporters at the Medway Messenger that is when the real slog will begin.
After tapping out their last story and closing down their laptops Jenni Horn and Sarah Shaffi, will dash to Cliffe Woods, near Rochester, to meet their colleague Keyan Milanian for a nine-hour coach ride to Fort William in Scotland.
The three have signed up to the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for CPC Kent - a charity which helps children under five with cerebral palsy.
Either through wisdom of forethought or sheer luck, Keyan is not involved in the election count and will be turning up fresh as a daisy for the challenge which will see them climb three of the country’s highest mountains starting with Ben Nevis at 6am on Saturday.
The trek to the top and back down should take five hours, at which point the six-hour drive to the second peak - Scafell Pike in Cumbria - begins.
After arrival the trio will begin the climb at 5pm. Four hours, plenty of willpower and several energy drinks later, they will jump aboard the coach to head to Wales for the last leg of the challenge - Mount Snowdon.
The climb will start at 1am, and the hike to the top and back down should take them around four hours.
They are due to arrive back down the mountain by 5am on Sunday. There will be time for a celebratory breakfast before they get back on the coach for the five-hour drive back to CPC Kent’s headquarters where the trek began.
And then? A week off to recover – not a chance, Sarah is back to work on Monday morning. Jenni and Keyan get slightly longer to recover and will be back mid week.
Medway Messenger editor Bob Bounds said: " Jenni, Sarah, and Keyan should be really proud of themselves not only for showing the commitment to doing a good job in getting the election covered live but for having the get up and go to complete the Three Peaks Challenge.
"Most of us would struggle with that after a good night’s sleep. They are a real example and everyone at the KM Group wishes them all the best."
