Three men remain in a serious condition in hospital after a car ploughed into a group of pedestrians on the Medway City Estate.
Fifteen people were injured in the horror crash in Sir Thomas Longley Road on Friday September 30, with four taken to a London hospital in an initially critical condition.
One of those was discharged on Friday, but three remain in a serious but stable condition at King’s College Hospital more than a week after the collision.
There were already officers on the estate at the time of the crash, responding to reports of a disturbance involving nuisance vehicles, and there had earlier been fears that the estate had once again become a magnet for “boy racers”. More than 20 ambulance staff attended the scene alongside police.
An 18-year-old man from Eltham who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released on police bail until November 14 pending further enquiries.
Locals on the estate were visited by officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit and Roads Policing Unit on Friday evening for an education on road safety, alongside members of Medway Community Safety Unit’s Community Policing Team, Kent Specials, and two crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

An investigation into the accident is still ongoing and police officers also used their visit on Friday to try and identify further witnesses.
Senior investigating officer Sergeant Glyn Walker said: “To date we have identified more than 80 witnesses to the incident and events leading up to it and we are in the process of obtaining accounts from those witnesses.
“However, we are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have footage or pictures of it on their phones to contact us. The collision occurred at 10.16pm but we would like to hear from anyone who has footage or pictures or who was there from 9.45pm that night as it could be vital for our investigation.”
