A woman accused of molesting another woman along with her husband has claimed the sexual contact was consensual.

David and Sarah Finan are on trial accused of sexually assaulting the woman as they tried to persuade her to join them in a threesome after a drunken night out in Chatham.

But Sarah, who ran an arts and crafts business, claimed in evidence that the alleged victim consented to the sexual activity.

Earlier, she said, she and the woman had exposed their breasts and had pressed them together at the couple's home on St Mary's Island.

Maidstone Crown Court heard Sarah Finan's breasts were exposed and she kept pulling the other woman's top down.

"There was a lot of sexual tension by then," she told the jury. "We had all had a few drinks. It had gone a bit further than comparing boobs."

Finan said two other couples had left the house and it was suggested that the woman could sleep on the sofa.

Finan gave her a pair of her pyjama bottoms. She also had pyjama bottoms on.

There had been touching of breasts and it was "very sexual, very silly and jovial".

Finan said she went upstairs with her husband and said to him: "Oh my god, this is quite flirtatious."

She added: "It is so embarrassing to talk about because it is not in my nature. We discussed a threesome with her.

"I went down and said: 'Do you want to come upstairs to our bed?' She followed me upstairs."

Finan, a mother-of-two, said the woman froze and went back down when another woman came out of a bedroom.

Finan and her husband went down also. Her husband asked the woman to kiss him.

The woman asked her if she minded and she said no. The woman leant forward and kissed him, she said.

"As terrible as that sounds with my husband, it was alright," she continued. "It was one of those things."

Asked by her lawyer if it was something they did regularly, she replied: "Absolutely not. It is the first and last time I do anything like that."

Finan said it was when she was left alone with the woman that there was "intimacy".

"There was still sexual tension in the room," she said. "We were discussing about threesomes."

Finan said she put her hand down the woman's pyjama bottoms. She then sat back and fell on the floor.

It stopped, she said, because "it just didn't feel right".

She added: "She was consenting - she was absolutely consenting. We were laughing. Nothing else happened because it just came to a natural end."

Finan said she went to bed and was arrested the next morning.

Asked if she would have touched the woman if she had not consented, she replied: "Absolutely not. Dave and I would not do that. We would not jeopardise our family - never in a million years."
