A busy town centre route is blocked following a crash.

The A2 through the centre of Rochester is partially shut in both directions following a crash earlier this afternoon.

Corporation Street is closed following the incident near Rochester railway station at about 2pm.

It is understood the road is blocked between B2097 Victoria Street and Northgate.

Two cars were reportedly involved and police are at the scene alongside paramedics and vehicle recovery is taking place.

Meanwhile, a reported crash between a car and child took place about 10 minutes earlier nearby.

The Esplanade was shut following a reported collision at 1.48pm.

Police attended but no injuries were reported and the road has since reopened.
