NEW CHALLENGE: Ch Insp Iain Mackenzie

A NEW Chief Inspector has been welcomed in part of Kent. Ch Insp Iain Mackenzie started his new role as part of the senior management team in Medway this week.

The previous occupant of the role, Ch Insp Peter Wedlake, has taken up a new position as Superintendent for the Partnerships and Crime Reduction Unit.

Ch Insp Mackenzie, 37, said: "Medway is a dynamic area which offers both challenges and opportunity. I am keen to build upon the good results we have had so far.

"The area boasts a variety of unique crime fighting initiatives such as the use of 'headcams' and alcohol control zones.

"I want to ensure we make the most of the resources we have and continue to maintain our pioneering approach to making the area safer."

Ch Supt Jan Stephens said: "The skills that Ch Insp Mackenzie brings with him will undoubtedly be of great benefit to the area."
