A Medway man has pleaded guilty to six charges of selling counterfeit clothing at a gypsy horse fair.

Satpal Singh, 51, who is from Rochester, sold an estimated £5,800 worth of clothing at the Stow Fair, in the Cotswolds.

Following an investigation by Gloucestershire trading standards officers,the knock-off clothes were discovered - including brands such as Superdry, Adidas, Nike, Fred Perry and Ralph Lauren.

Singh, of Hill Road, Borstal, sold the counterfeit products from a white Ford Transit van at the fair in May last year.

He was also found to be in possession of £1,200, which has now been detained under the Proceeds of Crime Act and trading standards officers will now seek forfeiture of the cash.

Eddie Coventry, head of trading standards in Gloucestershire, said: “Thanks to the hard work of trading standards officers this is another good result in the battle against traders who undermine legitimate businesses and leave consumers with no way of exercising their rights.”

Singh will be sentenced at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday, October 4.
