Traffic delays in Medway and Gravesend after crashes on M2 and A2

A crash, a breakdown and a multi-vehicle collision have caused traffic chaos this morning.

Motorists in Medway and Gravesend have been tackling long delays due to incidents on the M2 and A2.

There were long delays and queueing traffic for three miles due to an earlier broken down vehicle on the M2 London-bound after J4 A278 Hoath Way, Gillingham.

The traffic has now started to clear, however there are reports of congestion around the area.

At around 10am there was an accident on the A2 London-bound at Pepper Hill.

Emergency services attended but the incident has now cleared.

At around 8am, the inside lane on the M2 coast-bound between J2 and J3 near Chatham was closed following a multi-vehicle collision.

There were long delays but at 10am all lanes reopened.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called at around 9.10am to a collision involving five cars on the Londonbound carriageway of the A2 near Bean.

"Officers and paramedics attended the scene where a woman was treated for minor injuries. She was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

"Officers were also called at around 6.50am to a collision involving three cars on the eastbound carriageway of the M2 at junction 3.

"Officers and paramedics attended the scene where a man was treated for minor injuries."
