Drivers were advised to avoid the area after two collisions in the Medway Tunnel this afternoon.
Police were initially called to a crash involving two cars on the Strood-bound carriageway of the tunnel at around 4.20pm.
While officers were at the scene a second collision occurred on the opposite carriageway on the Strood side of the tunnel.
One lane remained open on both carriageways while arrangements were made to recover the vehicles.
One person in the initial collision reported non-serious injuries and ambulance crews were called to the scene.
Police suggested motorists should consider alternative routes until the carriageways were cleared.
Both directions have since fully reopened.
