Traffic was brought to a standstill on the M2 after an accident.

The crash happened on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 2 for the A228 at Strood and Junction 3 for the A229 to Chatham and Maidstone.

Police were called.

Traffic was held and motorists were warned to expect delays and to allow extra time for their journeys.

The road reopened at around 4pm, and delays cleared shortly after.
