A man has died after collapsing on a train.
The 63-year-old was taken ill on the 9.25pm high-speed service from St Pancras just after 10pm last night.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to Rainham station to help him, but he could not be saved.
The man's death is not being treated as suspicious, and his family has been told.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "Shortly before 10.30pm on Tuesday, 7 June a 63-year-old man was taken unwell on a train at Rainham station, Kent.
"Crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended but sadly the man passed away.
"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and his family have since been informed."
Witnesses reported seeing four ambulances and two police cars at the scene.
Rail services were suspended in the aftermath, causing delays to trains heading out of London.
A Southeastern spokesman said: "A passenger sadly passed away after being taken ill shortly after 10pm on a train at Rainham last night.
"Paramedics and the British Transport Police were called and the Kent coastal line was closed for around an hour.
"Our thoughts are very much with the family of this passenger."
A spokesman for the ambulance service added: "I can confirm SECAMb was called to Rainham railway station last night at 10.20pm to attend to a patient who had collapsed.
"Despite best efforts by the crews attending, the patient was declared deceased at the scene."
