Former Thomas Cook staff have returned to their store a month after the firm collapsed.

The travel agency branch at Hempstead Valley, Gillingham, has reopened after Hays Travel took over all 555 branches of the travel agent.

Thomas Cook went into liquidation on Monday, September 23, after it was plunged into financial difficulties.

A statement on the shopping centre's Facebook page said: "We’re thrilled to announce that Hannah, Kirsty and Megan from the former Thomas Cook travel agents, have re-opened today as Hays Travel.

"Join us in welcoming the team back to Hempstead Valley. Hays Travel is located near Costa Coffee and Vision Express."

The store is open Monday-Saturday between 9am and 5pm, and is closed on Sundays.
