Train services have been disrupted for more than eight hours after reports teenagers were seen with a weapon.
Police were called to Gillingham railway station just before 6am.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “We were called following reports of teenagers believed to be in possession of a weapon on a train. Officers attended and two teenagers were stopped however no weapons were found.”
Trains were unable to run between Sittingbourne and Rochester, although services returned to normal after around two hours.
However, those travelling between Strood and Gillingham are still experiencing delays of around 20 minutes on some trains.
Southeastern said it was working to get services back to normal working times.
Thameslink has also been contacted for comment.
