A group of travellers have pitched up in a children’s play area.

Several caravans were spotted parked on the green yesterday morning (June 13) on the playground next to Laburnum Road Recreation Ground in Strood.

The group are believed to have first arrived on Thursday (June 8).

Some residents have reported that a number of dogs were off the lead roaming around the park.

Ian Gilmore, head of regulatory and environmental services at Medway Council, said: "We are aware of the group and will be following a civil legal process to move them on."
