The owners of a house in Wainscott had a lucky escape when a tree smashed through their roof this afternoon.
High winds felled the tree opposite Aime Lodge, Common Road, just after lunchtime. No one was injured.
The house was left standing, but the roof had been badly damaged. The owners are in the process of moving their things out of the house.
The road has been closed from its junction with Lee Green Road and Haven Street up to Bunters Hill Road. It is expected to be closed until early this evening.
