An accident has closed one side of the Medway tunnel in Strood this morning.

Kent Police were called to the Gillingham-bound side at 8.20am.

It has been reported that a lorry and a car were involved in a collision.

The Gillingham-bound tunnel is currently closed. Kent Fire and Rescue and the South East Coast Ambulance Service are on the scene.

A spokesman for Kent Police said no life-threatening injuries have been reported.

The crash has caused long delays in the area, with queues stretched back to Four Elms Hill.
