Two men have been narrowly avoided jail after being found guilty of four counts of theft.

Nathan Odgers, 27, and Shane Baker, 23, were arrested during the early hours of Thursday, October 29, after officers were alerted to an alleged attempted break in at an address at The Goldings, Rainham.

The pair, who live in Maidstone Road, Chatham, appeared in court earlier this week and were both given suspended sentences of 12 weeks, for four theft offences.

They were also facing charges of attempted burglary, but the charges against them were discontinued.

Another count of theft on both defendants was also dismissed by magistrates.
