The first crash happened at about 9am on the A289 Vanguard Way just prior to the Medway Tunnel on the Gillingham-bound carriageway.
Two cars, a BMW and a Toyota Yaris were involved in the smash which closed the road for a short time.
One lane remained closed until just before 9.30am and the road was fully reopened by about 9.35am.
On the opposite site of the carriageway, Strood bound, there was a three vehicle crash at about 9.30am.
The vehicles were moved off the carriageway and other traffic was able to pass the scene.
