Two Medway charities thank voters after they are awarded almost £70,000 by The People’s Projects

A Medway charity which helps youngsters with cerebral palsy is celebrating after it scooped £50,000 of National Lottery funding.

The Step and Learn charity in Frindsbury had asked people in the Towns in April to vote for it to receive a grant as part of this year’s The People’s Projects, run in partnership with ITV Meridian.

The charity based on Frindsbury Road, called for people’s votes so it could secure the top prize after its cause was featured on the channel on Friday, April 20.

Gillingham and Rainham MP Rehman Chishti, recently visited the trust to learn about their work and urged people to cast their vote for the cause.

He said: "I am absolutely delighted that the Family Trust has won major funding for their important voluntary work and kids money courses, which will help teach local primary and secondary school children essential money management skills.

“It was a pleasure to meet with the charity last week to learn about their work in local schools and I look forward to visiting them again soon - let me also take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for them.”
