Two talented singers from Medway will go head to head at the weekend as they try to make it through to the next round of The Voice.
Joseph Apostol, from Gillingham, and Adam Barron, from Chatham, are both hoping to claim one of the final three places on Sir Tom Jones’ team in the BBC talent show.
Tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, each team will be whittled down from seven singers to three who go through to the live shows.
Each artist will choose one song to impress their coach and, once again, will be pitted against a teammate, but this time they won’t know who they’re up against until they take to the stage.
Adam, 27, has chosen to sing Paul McCartney’s Maybe I’m Amazed.
He said: “I picked it because it was one of my favourite songs. I absolutely love it because it has a really nice melody and I thought it would show off my voice.
“Before I went on stage I wasn’t really worried because you have done it so much by that point.
“On the one hand it feels like just another performance, but then I think I’m singing on the biggest stage I will ever sing on against the best singers and for the some of the biggest artists in the world. I think I have got used to it and then it hits me – this is ridiculous.”
Also fighting for a place in the final is 21-year-old Joseph, a student at MidKentCollege, Gillingham.
He said: “Everyone is really excited for me, including my mum. She works in the hospital and she has been telling all her patients about it.
“I’m thankful for everyone’s support. This is what I want to do with my life.”
According to bookmaker Paddy Power, Joseph is fifth favourite to win the show at 12-1 while Adam is an outsider at 80-1.
