Two teenagers have been charged after a 17-year-old was stabbed in a town centre.
The victim was attacked outside Wilko in Gillingham High Street at around 4.55pm on Thursday.
Matthew Smirthwaite was a security guard on-duty at the time and saw the incident.
He gave first aid to the teenager who was then rushed to a London hospital. Police say he remains in a "stable but serious condition".
Detectives from Medway CID are investigating the incident having charged a 17-year-old boy from Gillingham and a 16-year-old boy from Hertfordshire with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and possession of a knife in a public place.
Both remain in custody and are due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Three other teenagers who were also arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Police are still asking for anyone with information to step forward.
