Two women were taken to hospital after a two-car smash in Gillingham this morning.

Both suffered neck and back pain after the crash at about 8.30am in Pier Road, near the Dagenham Motors Ford showroom.

Firefighters had to cut one of the women out of her car, thought to be a red Ford Fiesta, using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Traffic was delayed while the operation took place.

Both of the women were conscious and neither of their injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
