A man could be jailed after he admitted punching a disabled man who stepped out in front of his car.

Tyler Bird, 24, lost his temper, got out of the vehicle he was driving and punched Paul Wicks in an alley off Rochester Avenue, Rochester.

Bird, who lives in Rochester Avenue, had been apparently having a driving lesson with a friend when the incident happened.

He appeared before magistrates in Medway where he admitted assault by beating.

The court heard how Mr Wicks, who also lives in Rochester Avenue, had suffered a stroke and is unsteady on his feet.

The passenger in the car also got out and punched Mr Wicks, but when Bird was arrested and interviewed, he refused to tell police who the passenger was.

Chairman of the bench John Weir adjourned the case for pre-sentencing reports to be prepared but warned Bird he could be facing the possibility of jail.

Mr Weir said: “This is a serious assault and there is a possibility you will go to prison.”

Bird will be sentenced on Monday, July 9.
