UPDATE: Missing Rochester man Michael Montgomery, last seen in Chatham, is found safe

A vulnerable elderly man who went missing from his home in Rochester has been found.

Police launched an appeal for help to find Michael Montgomery, aged 80, after he disappeared from his home address in Stirling Close, at around 9am yesterday (Sunday).

He left home on foot, with the purpose of visiting the Pentagon Shopping Centre in Chatham, which is part of his routine.

Mr Montgomery usually returns home by 3pm but when he did not return by 3.30pm, his family raised the alarm.

Police released this image of Mr Montgomery which was captured on CCTV at Pentagon Shopping Centre at 11.20am yesterday.

After extensive searches by police, assisted by the coastguard, Mr Montgomery was found in the Borstal area by a member of the public.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police would like to thank the media and the public for their help with this missing person appeal."
