Two men have been released on police bail after a man suffered serious injuries in Rocehster High Street.
The 43-year-old, from Gillingham, is in a London hospital after being found unconscious in the early hours of Sunday.
Unconfirmed reports suggested he could have laid in the road for up to half an hour before he was found between 4.45am and 5.15am.
A member of the public called police and ambulance crews, who found the man unconscious with a suspected head injury.
He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital and later transferred to a London hospital, where he remained in a stable condition today.
Police arrested two men on suspicion of assault - a 31-year-old from Rochester and a 33-year-old from Strood.
They have been released on police bail until July 14 pending further inquiries.
