Witness appeal after crash on M2 London-bound at Medway Services leaves man in serious condition

A van driver had to be flown to hospital after a crash at a service station.

Police have revealed an unmarked car was following one of the vehicles before the collision which happened at around 2.30pm on the London-bound slip road approaching the Medway Services, near Junction 4, yesterday afternoon.

The incident involved a black Citreon Berlingo Van and a gold Volvo estate car.

The nearby unmarked car was first on the scene and was joined by officers from the serious collision investigation team.

Firefighters and ambulance crews were also called.

The van driver remains at a London hospital.

A second man was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

A man and a woman were arrested in connection with the collision and remain in police custody.

Kent Police has referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the proximity of the unmarked police vehicle.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who was at Medway Services or in the surrounding area at the time of the collision and witnessed it, or has dashcam footage.
