VANDALS damaged doors and windows when they attempted to break into Strood Youth Centre in Montfort Road. First they broke the lock of the front door.
When they could not enter through the front, they caused further damage, forcing the fire exit doors. They then tried to get into the office, but failed, and left after they damaged the glass.
Centre leaders believe the break-in happened some time on Sunday as neighbours heard a car in the early hours.
Fran Foster, the centre manager, said: "The main thing was nothing was taken and no one was hurt. How much it costs us depends on whether we need to replace the doors, but it still going to cost us money we could have spent on other things."
