More than 50 vehicles stuck at the Dockside Outlet following today's alleged throat slitting incident are being gradually released.
A woman died in the gruesome assault.
Forensic officers are at the scene and have erected a tent after the man, who is 25, allegedly shut his partner in his car before launching the attack.
A witness said there was lots of blood and people could be heard shouting.
Many of those affected have been accommodated in screen one of the nearby Odeon.
Our reporter at the scene earlier spoke to many of those waiting to leave.
Rochester resident Abdul Sunmonu, 18, said: "I just went back into the gym and waited for my friends, it's quite bad what's happened, I just want to go home."
An elderly man, who asked not to be named, said: "It must have been about 11am when we
arrived. "I don't know when it happened but we have been waiting ever since.
"It looks like we have got to wait another couple of hours.
"The police officer said if would about 6pm. We have never seen so many police in one place."
A middle aged woman, who also asked to remain anonymous, said: "It's got to happen, we have just got to wait a little while longer.
"It's sad, very sad. Somebody's daughter."
Just before 6pm, the police said: "Motorists whose vehicles are currently within the cordon at the Dockside area, Maritime Way, Chatham are encouraged to approach our officers at the scene.
"They can escort you to your car and will do all they can to remove your vehicle from the cordon."
