Five vending machines were thought to have been stolen until the launch of a police appeal led to their discovery just hours later.
And the machines, which were reported missing from Eagle Vending Services, on Trident Close, had not been stolen but moved to safe keeping because of a fire next door.
The business, which supplies vending machines, reported them stolen on Thursday, July 30. They had last been seen three months earlier but after a fire on June 15 nearby building a salvage company had moved them into storage.No-one had told the owners they had been moved leading them to think they had been stolen.
At around 10.10am yesterday (Monday) Kent Police launched an appeal for information into their whereabouts.
But just before 2pm they released a statement saying the 4ft 5in machines worth £5,000 had been found in storage in London.
It read: “It’s believed they were moved following a fire in a building next door on June 15.
“Despite the move, the salvage company responsible did not record the details, which is why they were reported as stolen.”
