A video has emerged showing a chef who appears to be smoking a cigarette while working in a burger bar kitchen.

But the owner of McDoody's in Gillingham, Habib Monaf, told KentOnline the video merely showed the chef with a rolled-up piece of paper in his mouth.

Mr Monaf said: "I've looked closely at the video and you can't see any smoke coming from it at all.

"I spoke to the guy and he said it was just a piece of rolled up paper he had in his hand that he put in his mouth

"I've watched it and it's not lit - I can't see any smoke whatsoever."

Mr Monaf said the video had been released by a former employee, and was shot about a month ago.
