Video: Murder investigation launched after man's body discovered in Chatham

Police investigate where
body was discovered

Kent Police's Major Crime Unit are
investigating after the body of a man in his 60s was
discovered at an address in New Road, Chatham.

Officers were called to the flat at Copperfield House at
about 10.45pm on Saturday, January 9.

Police are on the scene searching bushes at the back of New
Road.

The man has yet to be formally
identified and the cause of death has not been confirmed.

A 69-year-old man from Chatham has
been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned at
Medway Police Station.

Area Commander for Kent Police in
Medway, Ch Supt Steve Corbishley said: ‘We are currently
treating this death as suspicious and have today launched a murder
investigation.

"The cause of death is being
established and we are appealing for anyone with information to
come forward.

"This was an isolated incident and I
would like to reassure the public that we are following a number of
lines of enquiry into this fast moving investigation."
