A new eatery serving sweet treats is set to open in a village.
The aptly named Dessert Cafe will soon open its doors in Walderslade Road, Walderslade Village, at the site of the former Bliss Tea Rooms.
Owner Malinder Walia said she hopes to open the cafe by the end of this month, with work on the site well underway.
The mum-of-two said: "We wanted to offer the village something different which wasn't here already. There are other cafes in the village but none like this.
"We didn't want to upset anyone by being too similar to anyone else, we always tried to look at different businesses we could bring to the area.
"It's a good community here, it's like a family. If anything happens, everyone knows."
The cafe will offer eat-in and collection, and will serve a range of desserts including waffles, fresh ice cream, and milkshakes, as well as taking suggestions from customers and locals on what they would like to see offered.
The 42-year-old said: "We've had such a good response with job applications so far. We started work on the cafe last month, and we had wanted to open mid-April but we had to push back.
"We hope to have interviews in the next week and start training and setting up, to hopefully open by the end of the month."
The cafe will occupy the former Bliss Tea Rooms after owner Shirley Bliss had to close her popular business down last May after seeing her bills rise by nearly £1k in just three months.
Shirley began by home catering for tea parties with her daughter and took over the Walderslade shop in 2015, but has now gone back to her old business model.
