The constituency - currently represented by Tracey Crouch -would lose Aylesford South and Ditton to a new constituency called Maidstone and Malling.

Additionally, a large area along City Way including Horsted, Rochester Airport, and Warren Wood, would go from being part of Rochester and Strood to Chatham and Aylesford.

Gillingham and Rainham's boundaries would remain the same under the proposals.

The changes are being proposed due to population changes.

A consultation on the changes starts today (Tuesday, November 8) and will close on Monday, December 5.

The final proposals will be submitted to Parliament in July next year.

The last survey round got more than 45,000 comments.

Tim Bowden, secretary to the Boundary Commission for England, said: “Today we are announcing the publication of our revised proposals.

"Last year we published our initial proposals for new constituency boundaries – our first go at what the map should look like.

"We are delighted with the huge number of comments from members of the public on our initial proposals, many which included valuable evidence about local communities."
