A violent man who spat in a police car after kicking and headbutting four police officers has been jailed.
Kye Hooper of Skinner Street, Gillingham has been sent to prison for 16 weeks following the series of assaults on Wednesday, March 19.
Police had attended Bryant Street, Chatham at around 10.40pm to arrest the 37-year-old for an unconnected matter and he was detained.
But as he was being taken down to the station, he headbutted and kicked two constables.
He then spat in the vehicle and assaulted another two when in the custody area.
Hooper was later charged with four assaults on an emergency worker and criminal damage and was remanded in custody.
The following day he pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates' Court to all the charges and was sent straight to prison.
District Commander for Medway Chief Inspector Garry Cooke, said: “Kent’s emergency services should be able to go about their duties assisting the public without being abused or assaulted.
“In this incident, the appalling behaviour of this man directed towards my officers was entirely unacceptable and he was swiftly brought before the court to answer for his actions.”
